Starting college, I was unsure what I wanted to do with my future career. After stumbling around a bit looking at software engineering and investment banking, I discovered startups and venture capital through The Power Law.
Since then, I've been fascinated by the idea of creating and investing in companies that can change the world. I've had the opportunity to study software companies at a hedge fund, learn about startups at a corporate venture capital fund, invest in early-stage companies at a student-run venture capital fund, understand the broader venture ecosystem at a fund-of-funds, and help scale a venture-backed startup.
I'm always trying to learn more about innovative technologies and the companies that are building them. My focus recently has been on artificial intelligence, augmented reality, and virtual reality because I see these technologies as the next major platform shifts that will change the world. I will try to share what I'm learning on my blog. I'm always looking to learn more, so please reach out if you'd like to chat!
Summarizing my thoughts from the last post.
In this post, I explore the different areas that drive value to AI businesses and how companies of different sizes can differentiate to drive success in the long term.

Summer 2022
First experience working at a startup and VC. Automated the sourcing process for the venture capital branch by collecting customer information from the OneValley platform. Evaluated and wrote reports on pre-seed/seed companies.
Developed a NLP model by fine-tuning a BERT-like (distilBERT) model on the SQuAD 2.0 dataset to accurately answer questions about written passages. Implemented tokenization, data pre-processing, and data loading to improve efficiency and performance
Developed and compared a deep learning convolutional neural network (CNN) and a deep learning residual network (ResNet) to classify faces training on the LFW dataset, resulting in a 90% accuracy rate and an AUROC score exceeding 98%
Developed Instagram-like web application using React for front end, Flask for back end and SQLite for database. Implemented account creation/login, following, infinite scroll, deleting, and adding posts, likes, comments, etc.
Built a custom fault multi-process, multi-threaded MapReduce server that executes user-submitted jobs. Implemented master and worker objects that communicate over TCP and UDP that are fault tolerant in case of failure
Coded in VSCode. Built with React and Tailwind CSS.
